The Douaumont Ossuraythe official memorial, contains the remains of over 130,000 unidentified combatants of both nations, which can be viewed through windows on the lower edge of the building. Above, Rufus takes pause at the grave of Michel Jean Mazuel, killed October 1917 during the 300 day long Battle of Verdun.
