Der Zugspitze

This morning we said goodbye to Munich and headed south towards the Bavarian Alps. Rufus was excited as we drove south and saw the Alps getting larger in our window.  As we arrived in the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen the mountain was on full display. Our plan to make the summit was to use the Eibsee cable car to reach the mountains 2,962 m (9718 feet) summit. W3 packed in tight with all of humanity and proceeded up the step incline. We reached the top in about 10  minutes, and exiting to a brand new climate. When we left the base it was 20 degrees Celsius, at the top it was a brisk 9 degrees with 40 mph winds (especially on the Austrian side) The top is equipped with observations posts and some of the worlds highest cafes.  The vistas at the top are enormous, you can literally see seven different countries from the top. We had a quick lunch and downed a Coke, no ice needed. Also, at the top you are actually in two different countries, Germany and Austria.

At this point in the trip we would like to give a great shout out to Jake Anderson, Sophomore at Iola High School. He designed a T-shirt that used the “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure motif. The shirt has both of our likenesses in place of Bill and Ted. With that we would to thank everyone who has made this trip possible, ” Be Excellent to each other.”
