Each summer the Goethe-Institut selects about 50 teachers to invite to Germany as part of TOP to learn about contemporary Germany by visiting schools, government offices, businesses, non-profit organizations, community groups, historical sites, museums, and more. This public/private partnership between the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, the Goethe Institut, Deutsche Bank, and the Siemens Corporation was founded in 2002 to empower teachers to bring the world of modern Germany and its people into their classrooms and communities. Bill was fortunate to be selected as a participant for the 2024 cohort and will spend two weeks exploring Hamburg, Leipzig, and Berlin.
Today the experience began as Bill left the heat of Oklahoma and arrived in a pleasantly cool Hamburg to meet the other participants and settle in. Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks to experience Germany alongside the teachers and see what this amazing country has to offer. For now, auf wiedersehen!
