Days #7 and #8: London Calling!

No, not the iconic Clash album, but just as important. Having settled into our hotel for a 3-day stay, we ventured out into the heart of London to visit the British Museum and the British Library. On Day #7, we got acclimated to the London Tube on our way to visit the world famous British Museum. The British Museum houses one the largest collections of antiquities in the world, primarily from their days as the world’s largest empire. From ancient wonders from Greece and Rome to wonders from Asia and the Far East.

Day #8 we climb back aboard for an appointment with a representative from the British Library, who specializes in the Magna Carta. With his guidance, I learned more about the situation surrounding King John’s reign and his reluctance to sign away his power at Runnymede. I viewed Magna Carta #3, but was disappointed to learn that #4 was no longer viewable due to damage from centuries of neglect and improper handling.

Setting our sites we traveled to the southern part of London where we viewed Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, iconic Big Ben and considered the War Rooms where Winston Churchill made decisions during WWII.
